Tuesday

In case you don't receive the SGE-nouncements, here is a summary of what's going on these days:

Today only!  Eat at Chik-fil-A and 20% of the cost will go to help West Liberty Elementary.  This good at ALL Lexington area restaurants, so spread the word!

Kindergarten Registration is going on right now for all Scott County Schools.  Registration will be available until 7:00 tonight, and 3:00 the rest of the week.  Please tell everyone with a Kindergarten age child to register at their school.

Open Enrollment is also going on now.  If you are open enrolled this year, you need to complete the application again for each school year.

On March 27, the 5th Grade Musical will be performed twice.  The school performance is at 1:15, and the public performance is at 6:00.

On Saturday, the 9th Grade School PTO is hosting a craft fair.  Two of our teachers are going to be participating, so stop by and see them and help the 9th Grade PTO.

SCMS will be here to visit with our 5th grade students on April 28.  They will receive information about middle school and learn about scheduling.

The next PTO Meeting will be April 17.  They are currently looking for new officers!  This is a great way to serve our school!

Want another way to serve the students of SGE?  Consider becoming a parent representative on SBDM Council.  Watch for information about that election in the April Buffalo Banner.

Specifically for 4th grade, here's today's update:
  • Reading: Log
  • Spelling: study words
  • Writing: finish Bio-Poem (most students finished in class)
  • Return picture orders and money (if interested)
  • Look for Fourth Grade Follow-Up (belated edition!)  :)

Friday.

Friday.  The end of a grading period, the end of a pile of missing work, the end of icky "I don't care" and "I'm just here to have fun" attitudes, and the end of doing as little as possible to get by.  Mr. Krueger had a heart to heart with the entire fourth grade today over these issues.  Monday marks the start of the 4th nine weeks.  WEEKEND HOMEWORK is for each student to think of a way that they are going to go into the 4th and final grading period of the 4th grade with a POSITIVE, PRODUCTIVE, WINNING ATTITUDE.  What are students going to do differently to make this happen?  Please talk to your child about their plans, how they feel they've been doing so far this year, and what their new attitudes on Monday will look like! :)

In unrelated news, I thought I'd share a contest possibility if you're interested in designing the Google logo!  Have a great weekend.

WACKY Wednesday

Could this week BE any crazier???  Here's an update of what's going on...
  • Reading: Log; can use science book for log to study for tomorrow's quiz
  • Spelling: study words; a worksheet will be assigned tomorrow
  • Science: Quiz tomorrow on Sound.  Since a study guide just came home today, the quiz will only count for a daily grade...however, the content is still SUPER IMPORTANT!  Please look for the pink study guide.
  • Math: We started decimals yesterday.  Many students are doing well, but some are struggling.  I sent yesterday's and today's classwork home with your child.  Ask them to explain it to you using terms like place value, tenths, hundredths, decimal, wholes, and using the word and in place of the decimal.
  • Many students are going to miss recess tomorrow due to an open response revision that was actually due on MONDAY (snow), so TUESDAY...there are still about 12 students who have yet to make it a 4.  If you want to talk specifics with your child, the reading revision is about Loser.  Upcoming revisions due are the Hawk Identification reading passage, as well as Multiplying Fractions (Stella's baskets of tomatoes).
Finally, tomorrow is PICTURE DAY!!!! Please brush hair and teeth, and be ready to smile pretty! :)
