Wednesday

Happy Halloween!  There is no homework assigned tonight.  However, there are a few students who did not finish their spelling that need to finish, and the reading quiz will be open book--but students may want to reread it tonight just to be more familiar with where to find the answers.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Greetings!
Tomorrow is Halloween, but we are NOT wearing costumes to school.  Some students asked about this and I spoke with Mr. Krueger and he said this was not something SGES was doing.

Tonight’s homework:

Social Studies Electoral College worksheet

We will have an open book reading quiz on Thursday over the story we read today, So You Want to be President.
The students will have a quiz on Monday, November 5 over Election Vocabulary.  There was a list of terms to know on the back of last night’s Learning the Lingo Worksheet.

Test Score Release

Scott County Schools Assessment and Accountability Data

Kentucky Department of Education will release school/district accountability data Nov. 2.

A New Beginning for Assessment
Results of the new state assessment, administered at each school across the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the spring of 2012, are scheduled for release on Friday, November 2, 2012. A new beginning for schools and districts, it will be impossible to compare the new results with scores from previous years.
The new system, focused on college and career readiness standards, provides data using a score of 1 to 100 in five key areas: Achievement, Gap, Growth, College/Career Readiness and Graduation Rate. The old system, which solely focused on basic skills, allowed schools to score over 100. Changes in the new model make it impossible to compare this year’s results with prior years. The new scores establish a starting point to identify strengths and areas of growth.
What does this mean for my child?
To help parents understand the new system of accountability in preparation for the release of scores, Scott County Schools will provide a series of news releases distributed via e-communication and posted on the district website throughout the next week. This overview will explain the process for calculating scores for each of the five areas of accountability so that parents better understand how their child performed. We encourage all parents to work with their school to discuss their child’s strengths and areas of growth. Working together as a team, we will ensure all students are successful, college and career ready graduates.

Also, students should be reviewing for the Science Test we have on Friday.  It will be all multiple choice, no open response.

We did a different activity for morning work today, so students did not have a daily review.
