Thursday
Sorry if you missed me yesterday! Here's tonight's homework:
Also, if you're wondering why there hasn't been any math homework...here's the update. We're working on comparing fractions using <, >, and = symbols, as well as explaining their comparison using common denominators, benchmark fractions, or fraction models. This is an extremely difficult set of targets, and I'm teaching multiple ways to approach these problems. We have been working on these all week, and I think students are finally getting the hang of it. I didn't want to send homework home yet because a) it stresses out our 4th graders; and b) it stresses out our parents!!! :) Next week, expect the homework load to pick back up in math. Meanwhile, if you'd like to practice with your child (or just see how they're doing), google "comparing fractions games for kids" or something similar, and there are plenty of online games to try. Better yet, just give them two fractions, and see if they can tell you which is greater or less and EXPLAIN WHY! Our magic words this week have been, "Ok, PROVE IT!" so I'm sure they'll love to hear you saying it too. Hehe.
Have a great night, and best of luck to our Academic Team today against Northern! Woot woot!
- Reading: Log (no quiz tomorrow!)
- Spelling: study for test tomorrow
- Study for DR Quiz
- Fill out and get Healthy Week Challenge signed (4 servings fruit/veggies)

o Gas: particles far apart, no fixed shape or volume
· Be able to describe the particles when changing states
o From solid to liquid; from liquid to gas; from gas to liquid; from liquid to solid
§ For example, when a solid becomes a liquid, the particles begin to move slowly, spread out, and slide past one another.
§ When do you add heat? When do you take away heat?
§ Google “Study Jams Matter” for video, song, vocab, and quiz!
· Define matter (anything that has mass and takes up space)
· Evaporation is the change from liquid to gas (so what happens to the particles?)
· Condensation is the change from gas to liquid (so what happens to the particles?)
