Choir Information Meeting

Mr. Price asked us to inform you that there will be a choir meeting after school on Tuesday, September 4th (the day after Labor Day!) from 2:45 - 3:45 in the music room.  If you have questions, or are interested but unable to attend, please let Mr. Price know (stephen.price@scott.kyschools.us) and he will send the information home.

Wonderful Wednesday

Hello!  I'm trying to write earlier in the day so that those of you who subscribe by email will hopefully get it sooner...but please save the web address to your favorites! :)

One of our fun moments took place today in science, where we began discussing adaptations.  We got to experience different types of bird beaks, and how easy or difficult it would be to eat worms, pasta, bird seed, and other animal-shaped foods with our different shaped beaks!  SUCH FUN!!

Tonight's homework is:

• Reading: Log
• Spelling: ABC order; study words
• Math: finish Naming Decimals (matching) worksheet (some students finished in class & turned in)
• Keep studying those DR's for Friday's quiz

Marvelous Monday

Happy Monday to all!!  I think we just might have a week pretty close to normal this week.  Hooray!!!
Please keep an eye out for a Census Form in your child's yellow folder.  This is to ensure that we have the correct information on file (work/cell numbers; email addresses, etc).  Please look over this form, mark any corrections as the form suggests, and return it to school tomorrow.

Tomorrow in science, students will have to draw and label the life cycle of an animal of their choice.  Feel free to choose an animal / find its life cycle tonight to be prepared! :)

Wacky Wednesday!

Hello!  We actually had a pretty great day today...it was just a very busy one!  We completed the first round of our AIMSweb benchmark testing with fluency assessments.  We should finish up the week with math computation assessment, as well as reading comprehension checks.  In science, we made edible animal cell models!!!  We also discussed cause and effect with our reading story, and reviewed a bit for our reading quiz tomorrow.

Tonight's homework is:

• Reading: Log; re-read Lewis and Clark and Me story and vocabulary; complete WB p. 16 on cause and effect
• Spelling: finish worksheet (due tomorrow)

Wow--we've had a fantastic day!  I am happy to report that students made such great choices all day, and I had over half of our class clip up OFF THE CHART today!!!  Yahoo!  I wore their clothespins proudly.  I hope everyday is just as nice!  We worked very hard. :)

Marvelous Monday

Today was our first "routine" fourth grade day--and it went very well!  Students should have stories about their time today with Mrs. Rase, Ms. Sothen, or myself. 

Monday folders came home today, filled with lots of important information.  Please be sure to look through them, and return any necessary forms.  Also, look for the blue "Fourth Grade Follow Up" that gives a great deal of info about lots of different upcoming topics.

Tonight's homework is:

• Reading: read for at least 20 minutes, and get reading log signed...be ready for quiz Thursday on Because of Winn Dixie story and vocabulary
• Spelling: study new words (test on Friday)

There are a few students who still have forms that need to be returned.  PLEASE send those in as soon as possible.  The blue Code of Conduct books will be coming home on Monday, along with the Code of Conduct Contract that needs to be signed and returned.  This includes the bus/transportation aspect of behavior, and therefore you do not need to sign the transportation one, as in previous years.  EACH STUDENT MUST HAVE A SIGNED CONTRACT ON FILE AT SCHOOL.  Please be sure to look for this (hopefully) last form, and return it as soon as possible.

Tonight's homework is:

• Finish "All About Me" poster (with color)
• Finish Bio Poem (some students finished in class)
• Return Forms/Room Fees (THANKS to those who already have!)

I hope you saw the "Parent Survey" for your child's multiple intelligence ratings. This shouldn't take more than 5 minutes--please just read each statement and checkmark if it applies to your child.  We worked with these in class today, and we are very interested to know if you agree with our findings!  Thanks so much!!

Great First Day!

We had a wonderful, fun-filled first day of school.  We've learned many of the procedures and routines that we'll be doing this year...and hopefully had some fun while we learned them!

Believe it or not, here is your child's homework for tonight:

• Two Facts and a False (1/2 sheet found in your child's homework folder)
• Return any forms / room fees ASAP

Regarding Signing Agendas:
To clarify from Open House, I would LOVE to see your signature each night in your child's agenda.  The purpose is to reinforce your involvement in the daily happenings of 4th grade, as well as keeping an eye on your child's homework and graded papers.  If you do not sign the agenda, your child will not receive a consequence at school.  I will check agendas each morning (beginning tomorrow), so if you leave me a note in there, I should see it.  Again, I'd love to see your signature each day, but your child will not be penalized if you don't sign.  Hope that helps!
