Hello! Hope you had a wonderful weekend...and are ready for another busy week!  Tonight's homework is:

• Science: complete study guide; use to help study for tomorrow's QUIZ (will count as a daily grade since students already received a test grade for space science from their planet reports). Also review chapter 17 in science books.
• Reading: Read Grace and the Time Machine and review vocabulary words; log
• Math: prepare for fractions quiz tomorrow (students brought home a fraction self-evaluation, where they marked any area they felt unsure about in either yellow or red.  We have since reviewed heavily in class, and even pulled small groups of students who lacked confidence in similar areas...but they are bringing this home to show you in hopes that you can help them even more!)
• Spelling: study words

FRIDAY! 100th Day!!!

An unusual Friday post...

A study guide came home today for a Science Quiz on Tuesday.  I didn't want students to wait until Monday night to prepare...they should also have their science book with them. :)  I don't usually give weekend homework, but this unit ended on a weekend, and sometimes--that happens!

Although it's late and I'm sure our sweet 4th graders are in bed, I finally have time to write.  I didn't want you to have to go a day without me!! :)  We had SO MUCH FUN launching and landing our spacecrafts today.  I will try to get pictures up tomorrow!

• Math: finish worksheet on simplest form

Tuesday

Hello, everyone!  I hope you had an enjoyable long weekend.  We definitely had a rough time getting back into the swing of things...following directions...having our assignments ready...raising our hand before we blurt...I'm sure that as we get back into our routine, things will get better. 

Math has officially become difficult.  Today we retaught how to find equivalent fractions by multiplying only.  Students have a short homework assignment in math that should be fairly simple.  Please remind your child that, if they are struggling, they should not hesitate to let me know because we will keep covering new content, and they will only fall further behind.

In other news, we will not be having a DR Quiz this week.  Since we made up Friday's quiz today, we did not do another DR...this would only give us two days of DR's, so Mrs. Fredericks and I have decided to do spelling as morning work instead, hopefully giving students extra practice with their words on a short week.  We will go back to DR quizzes next week.

oh heeeeeeyyyyyy there!

Wow!  I have really been slacking on the ole blog, huh?  I apologize for my absence, but it's with good reason, I promise.  One reason involves giving a crash course on 4th grade life to our new student teacher, Ms. Heather Sothen.  We are so excited to have an extra helper for our students, and she has certainly jumped right in to our SGE family.  So if you see a new face in our class, please feel free to say hi!

We currently have lots going on (as if you're surprised!).  We are continuing to collect pop can pull tabs, and also gently used books to donate to our pen pal school in Nigeria.  Please send in donations any time.  Thanks in advance!  Next week, we will also need household items that we could use to create a space craft.  PLEASE do not purchase anything--just things around the house will do.  A list of ideas is coming home with your child tomorrow. 

Tonight's homework is light--in honor of the SUPER Social Studies test tomorrow!  A study guide came home on Monday, and we have reviewed in class all week.  I even suggested to students to Google "US States blank map," print it, and practice labeling it.  Also, don't forget to read the chapters about farming and life in midwest states in the SS book.  Happy Studying!

The only other homework tonight is the usual stuff-- reading log, study spelling words for a few minutes, and don't forget about the quiz over My Brother Martin on Friday.  Also, planet reports are due on Tuesday (and there's no school on Monday--wahoo!).

• Spelling: study contraction words for tomorrow's test
• Science: Phases of the Moon worksheet (can your 4th grader tell you the phases in order without peeking?)
• Study DR's for tomorrow's quiz

Also, don't forget that tonight is Stamping Ground Spirit Night at Giovanni's.  Hope you can stop by for pizza, subs, or salads!  Yummy!
