Science Test Study Guide
Test: Wednesday, September 12th

·        Major Topics: Steps of the Scientific Method; Cells; Animals
·        Test will consist of multiple-choice and 1 open response question
·        You should reread/review pages xxvi-xxvii; p. 6-9; p. 18-33.  This is a lot of information, but focusing on the specifics below may make studying easier:

·        You should be able to define/give examples of the following terms:
o   Hypothesis, conclusion, procedure
o   Cell (nucleus, mitochondria, vacuole, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplast, chlorophyll), adaptation, instinct, learned behavior, inherited trait, life cycle, metamorphosis
o   Vertebrate/invertebrate
·        You should be able to identify/describe the following:
o   Steps to completing a science experiment
o   Types of vertebrates, and characteristics of each (use the chart we made in class)
o   Plant Cell vs. Animal Cell (similarities and differences—use the diagram we labeled in class)
o   Describe a life cycle; compare life cycles to see similarities and differences (plants and animals)
o   Determine if certain behaviors are learned or inherited
·        You should be able to look at animals (i.e. birds) and explain what they eat based on their adaptations.
Have a great weekend!
